> Year 7

The Transition process is just the start of the support your child will receive at Fairwater High School. Once they start in Year 7 the support and partnership with parents continues. Every pupil is placed in a form group and the Form Tutor will get to know every pupil and will be their first point of contact for advice and support. The tutorial time takes place every day between 8:35 and 8:55 and follows the timetable below:

Day Activity
Monday Literacy.
Tuesday Assembly.
Wednesday Progress mentoring/PSE.
Thursday Numeracy.
Friday Planners and attendance mentoring.

The Form Tutors for Year 7 are;

7S1 – Ms Phillips

7S2 – Ms. Groskop

7S3 – Ms Chamberlain

In addition to their Form Tutor, the Pupil Progress Manager is there to support pupils. The principle role of the Progress Manager is to closely monitor and analyse the academic progress of every child and oversee the implementation of strategies to reward or support pupils where necessary. This process occurs every half-term and pupils receive high quality feedback and improvement targets from subject teachers and Form Tutors on each occasion. This ensures that every child is fully supported and involved in achieving their full potential, particularly at such a vital time in their education.

As mentioned above, a key role of Form Tutors and the Pupil Progress Manager is to reward pupils on a regular basis and in a meaningful way. Some of the activities planned throughout the year to reward students are:

Term Reward
Autumn Credit shop – pupils can exchange their hard earned credits for stationary and treats
Year 7 Christmas Show. All pupils in Year 7 participate in the Year 7 Christmas Show to truly get into the festive spirit.
End of Term Reward. All pupils who have earned reward enjoy festive activities with their Form Tutor before the whole school gather to celebrate the achievement of every learner in the school.
Form attendance reward. The form with the highest attendance at the end of ach half term receives a special gift.
